Simple and Easy Flower Pens

I’m sure we’ve all seen flower pens before but did you know making them is so easy?! A whole bouquet make the perfect addition to a desk in an office or on a counter in a classroom. Plus they are an easy grab when you need to make a note of something!

First you will need to gather supplies…

  • Faux Flowers
    • (choose what you love and don’t worry about the length of the stems)
  • Cheap pens
    • (I say cheap because you will need as many as you have flowers and they can’t have a fancy click on the end haha)
  • Floral tape
  • Optional but suggested: hot glue gun

Start by cutting the flower so it has about an inch of stem left. I find cutting with scissors works to cut through the plastic and then fold the metal back and forth a couple times to snap off the rest of the stem.

Using hot glue (or another strong glue… just make sure it is dry before wrapping), glue the flower at the top of the pen. This part is optional as I found it worked without glueing but does make it more secure and easier to wrap later on.

If you’ve never used floral tape at all you will find it is not very sticky. To start wrapping the pen you will need to wrap a couple times just below the flower before it stops sliding. Once fairly secure continue going down towards the tip of the pen. Once there, work the tape back up to the top. Rip or cut the tape and press down onto the pen… even though its not very sticky it will stay! I found the tape stayed more flush to the pen when I slightly stretched the tape as I worked it around the pen.

Continue with all the flowers and pens. Then place in a jar, vase, or pot to complete your bouquet of pens!

I would love to hear if you try this out! Being a lover of changing seasons, I think using leaves and fall coloured flowers would be beautiful for fall as well!
