Simple Floral Nail Art Tutorial

Hello! Now that everyone is attempting their own at home manicures I wanted to share today an easy nail design you can add to any basic manicure or pedicure. This was one of my first nail design I started adding to my own manicures forever ago and so I thought it would be a good one to start with. Plus – it doesn’t need many tools at all!

You will need:

  • 2 colours of nail polish
  • dotting tools (Amazon affiliate link: https://amzn.to/3W55fCd )
    • or alternative (see below)

If you don’t have dotting tools laying around, which I’m sure a lot of us don’t, there are plenty of different household items you could use. Keep in mind for this nail design you will need one larger dotting end and one smaller.

For the larger one you could use: q-tip with the cotton pulled off, the head of a pin, the handle of a small paint brush, etc.

For the smaller dot you could use: a pen, a toothpick, a pin or anything else that has a small point, a paper clip, etc.

After you have painted a base colour on your nails (or leave them bare underneath – totally up to you!) let dry and gather your supplies for the nails art. Place a little puddle of nail polish right before you start on a surface you don’t mind staining or throwing away. If the nail polish starts getting sticky or thick, make a new polish puddle to dip your dotting tool in.

Using the larger dotter tool pick up your petal colour…
Place 5 dots in a circle to make one flower. Add as many or as little flowers as you would like.

Important: For the next step, you need the flower petals to still be wet and not too dry (they will dry quick!), so work one finger at a time.

Taking the smaller dotting tool…
Drag from the centre of each dot into the centre of the flower
Repeat this on every petal
Using the smaller dotting tool again, after wiping clean, pick up the second colour…
Place a dot in the middle of each flower.

If you would like to get fancy, you can instead use a rhinestone in the middle of each flower or one of the flowers.

Finish up with a top coat after they have been given lots of time too dry. I have ruined one too many nail art designs with a top coat that went on too early.

If you try this I would love to see! Are you attempting at home manicures during this time?
