Easter Patterned Egg Art

Hello! Happy almost Easter! I wanted to share today a simple art project for students. It’s an easy way to ‘decorate’ Easter eggs, while introducing patterns. As you will read, I have the outline and instructions for the egg art but have also included a pattern practice sheet if patterns are new to your students or they need a reminder! Have fun and let me know if you try it out.

Materials you need:

  • Egg Template (eastereggoutline below)
  • Pattern Practice sheet (patternsheet below)
  • Pencil & Colouring materials of your choice!
  • Ruler

If cutting out and mounting the egg, you will also need:

  • Coloured paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Let’s get started!

First, you will want to have the students take a ruler and break down the egg into different sections! (each section will have at least one different pattern in it) (If you have younger students, you can always do this first before copying).
Then, have the students draw their patterns into each section. (hint: they can use the patterns they already created from the pattern practice sheet)
Then, outline and colour in egg design. I outlines each block in a black marker to distinguish between each, but this is up to you!
Cut out and mount onto coloured paper of your choice!

I think using other materials for this project could always turn out great! Whether paint, charcoal or crayon…. what would you use?
